"...the doctrine which accords with godliness"

1 Timothy 6:3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness,
1 Timothy 6:3 NLT Some people may contradict our teaching, but these are the wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. These teachings promote a godly life.

False Doctrine does not promote Holy Living. If fact it makes excuses for sinful living.

Paul tells Timothy that “wholesome teachings….Promote Goldy Living.” We see this quoted again in Titus 1:1 ”Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness” False Teaching leads people to be complacent towards sin and Not Fearful of a Holy God.

Missing from the pulpits of our day, is a pastor who will teach people to be Holy (To be Conformed to God’s Image.) More often than not, he will criticize those who stand for God’s Word and our calling to live Holy Lives. I have seen “pastors” call Godly men “legalistic” for speaking out against sin and Living Blameless Lives. These pastors ignore God’s calling to His people. It is a HOLY CALLING. (2 Tim 1:9 ”who (God) has saved us and called us with a holy calling…” Ephesians 1:4 ”…He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him…”

Do you feel challenged to live more Godly when you hear a message or do you feel content to live a Lukewarm life, enjoying (Putting up with) sin in your life? Does your pastor plead with you to “see sin as GREAT WICKEDNESS or does he say, “We are all just a bunch or sinners saved by grace.” We were a bunch of sinners, now we have grace to live our lives in a way that pleases Him—> Holy and Blameless. A lot of times we are told to, “Just enjoy the Lord and let Him love you.” You cannot enjoy a Holy God when you are in Rebellion against Him. John 14: 23 “….If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” Notice: Who is the person God loves? The one who is keeping His commandments. God defines what our love towards Him looks like– “Keeping His Commandments.”

Titus 2:11-12 “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age …”

What does Paul tell Timothy and to do? How should he Respond to these false Teachers?
1 Timothy 6:3-6 ” If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, (Teachings that promote a Godly Life) ……… From such withdraw yourself.“

2 Timothy 3:1-5 “But know this, that in the last days …. For men will be lovers of themselves,……, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”

Why would you stay in a place where you are given the imprssion it is “ok” to sin. “God’s Grace will cover it," we are told. Instead we should be hearing that God will give us Enabling Power to Overcome our sin and Do the Will of God. Many say, “God Commandments are His Enablements”, except for when it come to obeying God’s Word concerning sin. Then, all of a sudden God’s Grace becomes Powerless. ” …having a form of godliness but denying its power.” He cannot complete that which He started in you. His Grace is only for the forgiveness of sin and not for the Enabling to do Righteousness. They have a “Form of Godliness” that is not spoken of in the Bible. They think God sees you as “Godly” when you continue in sin.

1 Timothy 4:1 ” Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons”

Listen to what Paul tells Timothy about the Last Days we are living in.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 ”For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”
Those days have arrived!
Again what is Paul’s advice to Timothy concerning these False Teachers.

” FROM SUCH PEOPLE TURN AWAY” / ”WITHDRAW YOURSELF”

Please Note: This is not Pastor Darryl telling anyone to leave a Church or Fellowship or Bible Study if there is a False Prophet in the pulpit. I would never do that. ;) This is Paul’s advise to Timothy. Take it for what it is worth.

Don’t allow yourself to be INFLUENCED BY THEM. We want to see Sin as “Great Wickedness before God”. We do not want to minimized it or the consequences of it.

Does the teachings you hear “promote a Godly Life” or ?
